October 1950 — JTF Alpha about to do a combat jump into the Grass Cutting Area compound on Ramey Air Force Base in western Puerto Rico (note: this is a work of speculative fiction).
Synopsis
JTF Alpha—a special direct action unit hand-selected by John Spillers, is staging a three man chalk at an airstrip out of Fort Benning, Georgia. Through the eyes of their pilot, Captain Bill Hardesty, we get a closer look at the men of the chalk as they prepare for a combat jump into the Grass Cutting Area compound located on the western tip of Puerto Rico. These men have their own set of SOPs, their own gear mods, and though based out of Fort Benning, effectively operate as a bubble-within-a-bubble with respect to the 18th Airborne Corps.
